Ok, so they really were sunflowers after all. This is the view from my dining room window. Gotta love it.

If this is indeed the view from your dining room window, then you have stirred up unholy emotions in me... jealousy!!

It really is the view from my window, which is nice, because it cuts out the view of our next door neighbor's house. Those sunflowers really are pretty, aren't they? Their size still blows me away. They are seriously at least 10-12 feet tall.
My neighbor planted sunflowers in her front yard last year. They ended up looking so pretty and really tall too but..unfortunately, for her it attracted a lot of hornets/wasps. She wasn't prepared for that, so she got rid of them. Hopefully, this isn't the case for you. I agree with meems, it's a beautiful picture.
